Rehabilitation

BRIEF

​This website presents an example of an evidence-based rehabilitation programme that has been designed to meet the following assumptions:
 

  • The reader will be the patient (lay audience)

  • The injury is a Type II SLAP tear 

  • The patient is an overhead athlete (basketball player) 

  • The exercises prescribed are for the early-to-intermediate stages of rehabilitation (conservative management)

  • Six levels/progressions are provided, addressing the following domains:

    • Range of motion and flexibility

    • Isometric, concentric and eccentric strength (open and closed chain)

    • Gait/movement re-education

    • Proprioception

    • Core stability and strength 

  • The patient will be regularly supervised and assessed by their Sports Therapist, per the instructions in the User Guide​ page 

  • Exercises are evidence-based where possible, as recommended in contemporary peer-reviewed literature; this is summarized in the Review page
